I am the Pheobe Buffay of the group.

Hello everyone, I had a slight case of writers block (still on going) and the example I will give later will decipher how dire things were becoming. I have been keeping up with you all and enjoy read your posts regularly to see what you have been up to.

Well, I was having a little word with myself throughout the week, and decided few changes are desperately needed for the quest for happiness so to speak. You know, get out more, stop being lazy, and making better use of my time! (After reading all your blogs of course)
I watched the sunset on Friday night turn the sky a fierce red glow in its dying amber's, (this I am always happy and thankful for)
So, I thought to my self, if you want happiness, go get some girl! So I started by putting on my shoes and taking the pictures in its full glory outside without window pane and dirt blocking it. I think we can scrub out laziness there!
Happiness already. (Not so much so when I realised I had forgotten my keys to get back inside. Thank God big fella wasn't listening to music with his earphones in, I could have been out there for hours. He wouldn't even realise I wasn't there until he got hungry.Which isn't that long actually. It would have been OK come to think of it.)

On Saturday it was big fellas mummy's birthday, so me and the big fella got her nice perfume, and a totally inappropriate card ( Old fashioned photo of a woman in a bathing suit, holding huge crab high in the air, looking downwards, with the caption underneath saying "Thankfully she soon found what the source of the irritation was". At least it said Happy Birthday when you opened it.)

Of course the dirty swines that we were, we wet ourselves laughing when we saw it! We just bought it without thinking who it was actually for. Cue very awkward moment in restaurant when she opened it up in front friends and family.
After many whispered apologies over the table and cringing, we went out for walk by the water. This is big fella and me. (That's big fellas mum behind us, letting rip about how she wasn't putting that card on show on her mantle piece. Yes, big fella is big and yes my hair, even as shadow, looks dreadful. Medusa springs to mind.)

Filled with food and apology accepted, we went home. Home was starting to look untidy, messy and just a touch beyond clutter. I had to sort it out. It will make me happier! So, I decluttered, decluttered, decluttered. Thanks to Shell (link please for some solid gold inspiration from the sweet lady), I also made use for my drawer. It now sits nicely next to the bed. Thank you for the great tip!

I gave away books, lamps, even a TV, (see why soon) to friends and workmates. Somebody mentioned doing a car boot sale, and I agreed but yet, I would love to sell my own things that I make.

Ah,ha! I remembered that I was going to open a stall with my stuff at Christmas. I decided to get to work. I starting writing a list of things I could make and sell, and the materials such as wool and darning needles, and soon realised that that would have to wait for the moment but I did have a pen and paper. So I drew these.
I messed this one up I think, she looks a wee bit alien like. I also got impatient with the tail.

This one is entitled Dancing in the moonlight.
I like this one best.

Sunday: Flea Market day! (Did I not just declutter yesterday?)
I got this large dolls house wardrobe furniture for 50p. I am going to add a couple of shelves, paint it, and maybe sell it as a aromatherapy cabinet!
This candle was a £1..00 including stand. Gift! Have you ever seen the film Hocus Pocus? It reminds me of the black flamed candle! Consequently I will now never light it in fear of unleashing something dreadful like Kenny G making a comeback or something. (sorry all Kenny G fans out there. Its just the hair he has. I'm jealous.)
It could also be used as a press of some sort because it is hhheeavvyy!
But, that's all I got! Honest! I will continue to go to the flea market very week, but just buy things that might be use to make for my market stall. And anything else that catches my eye.OK, Big fella will have to supervise.

Now,I have a wee bit of a situation. Should I do this market stall? To be honest, big fella has quite the constructive criticism mode switched on, and doesn't really like my drawings. That doesn't sound right. What I mean is, they are not to his taste. (But that's not what I am thinking.) Which is absolutely fine, but yet old fear and doubt is creeping in mind like last time. Am I going about this the right way? Is a market stall even the answer? Is it to the person's taste, or I am kidding myself altogether? Oh bother!

I feel maybe I am like one of those poor contestants on American idol, who thinks they "have what it takes" yet to everyone else it is abundantly clear they haven't. I don't want to be that person. But I will keep on truckin with drawing, because I enjoy it!
I don't really want to ask my emmediate circle of friends, as it is not to their taste either in a sense they would not buy it for themselves. We are all different, which is what I love about them. I'm am the Phoebe Buffay of the group. Here are some other reasons why this title suits me:
(This is the writer block stage. I am sorry.)

1. I do not like the films Pretty Woman, Footloose, or Dirty Dancing. (gasp!) The looks I get when I mention that. (Though I will state in the film, Patrick Swayze, he makes me quiver!) A large percent of my friends beg to differ on my lack of appreciation for these films.

2. Other films I don't like are Top Gun and Cocktail. Simply because of Tom Cruise. I don't know what it is, this is even before the Scientology stuff. Gerry McGuire I can take, if not because of the cute little boy in it. But yet, Tom cruise has gone up high in the meter scale of like in my world since playing Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder. Because it is nothing like him. I'll give him that one, he stole the show in the film. (Imagine that was really him behind closed doors.Think about it................. Oh Katie run!) In other words I like him for the reasons others wouldn't. They like him being the good guy, I like him as the bad guy.

3. I don't know how to drive: Don't as in won't. I am basically scared of it. I had lessons for a year when I was eighteen, and I was stupid and didnt complete them.
I am slightly tense being in a moving car, due to a car accident in the US when I was younger. Nothing too major at all, it was more the shock, but boy, it has effected me large. The only person I trust in a car is my daddy. Not even big fella. Especially not big fella. Nah, not really, but he does make me flinch every once in a while. So I prefer walking. Only sometimes though. I will accept a lift I will just be quietly nervous about how the person drives.

4. I am a bit scatty and clumsy. I think this blog alone will prove my point. I leave comments sometimes that I mean so sincerely to someone, yet when I think back ,it didn't come out that way and I am embarrassed beyond belief.I only catch on about two months later. I even do it in posts. I get my words all jumbled up, I write junk... are you still there?

5. Last but not least:
I don't watch TV. EVER. Don't get me wrong, I will watch DVDs until the cows come home. But the television will never be on in this house, unless big fella is here.I I just don't like it. I have to read a weekly TV magazine just to have a proper conversation with some people I know. That's all they talk about. (So I read updates on shows to keep in touch. Which is quite scary, yet on a positive spin, effective.)

So to a lot of my friends, I am the kooky one.You know what, that sits alright with me.

What a great read before I head up to bed. You always make me laugh. I love the way you write, and as for the drawing - brilliant! I particularly love the last one too, must have taken hours!

ps. Never send me a birthday card!

I think that if you want to try your hand at doing a market stall, then go for it! Give it a shot and see what happens, why not? I like the middle drawing of the mermaid dancing in the waves. It reminds me of the drawings of Aubrey Beardsley, a favourite artist.

YEAH Claire! I am a no TV girl as well, and at times it makes me feel like a stranger in a strange land! I HATE reality TV, and the rest of it is rubbish as you would say ;)

But I do like your drawings. Very much so, and I say keep going with it! Who cares what the nay sayers say - you have talent and you should capitalize on that!

Hugs to you my funny gorgeous friend with the crazy hair and big fella!

First, I like your drawings.

Second, why not try selling your things on Etsy?

Third, there will be a market for your art. I love your mermaid drawings. Really.

Fourth, I can't stand Tom Cruise. For years I thought it was just me, but there are a lot of who don't like him a bit. Good guy, bad guy or creepy guy, I can't stand any of his roles.

Now that I've thought about it, have you ever done wet felting? I can see that mermaid on felt.

I somehow don't see your target market as being large manly men. I suspect your market may be a little more on the feminine side....

The only way to find out is to try!

Oh yeah and I meant to say I can't stand Tom Cruise either and I don't have TV. Seems there are a few of us out there!

YES! Do set up a market stall. Love your drawings. And making something new from something old is wonderful. I don't watch television either.

Oh I know what you mean about writer's block! I don't know what's happening with me at this time of the year. I'm pretty sure it was the same last year around this time so it's got be a summer thing.

I agree with you on TV. I haven't had one for a while now and totally don't miss it. But how can you not love Dirty Dancing??

Claire, I think there would be a demand for your art, Etsy might be a good place to start. Remember without trying you will never know.
Big Hug.

Oh Tom Cruise - yuk big time. He is a manipulative little control freak who uses charm but he is so insincere. I can't bear any film tha the is in. He also has a big nose!

You get going with your market stall - your drawings are great and there is always a market out there. Things are looking up - at least you didn't liken yourself to the Joey of the group!

Cheers Hen.

You may be kooky, Claire, but you are wise. Your art work is great and if some don't like it, that's fine..others will. That seems to be the beauty of art. And I totally agree with your movie choices...none are my favorites and here;s another gasp..I don't watch TV either. I just can't get through the canned laughter on the sitcoms. Watching DVD's till the cows come home is my version of entertainment. So if these things make kooky, you aren't alone!!
